Only use an assessment if it can help with the goals of the coaching and the person is ready and wants to receive the information. Information about oneself, even if itâs positive, can be challenging.
The person who takes the assessment ultimately decides whether and how strong the strength identified is true for them. No assessment is infallible, and if the person doesnât accept the results, itâs a non-starter. Go with what they see and accept.
All assessments, even valid ones, are slices of who we are. They never represent all our capabilities, styles, etc. Again, provide this context about strengths and communicate that, in the end, people know themselves better than the assessments do.
